In which I use Yiddish in an episode
I don’t always get to bring my Jewishness to my podcast. Well, that’s not totally true. It’s always there in a subtle way since Judaism is a huge part of my life. But in the latest episode of Dear Nina, you’re getting the fuller picture.
In episode 45, I spoke to Linda Pressman, author of Jewish Girls Gone Wild, about her experiences growing up as the child of Holocaust survivors, her parents’ friends, being one of seven sisters, and her adult take on friendship.

Latest Books and TV Shows I’ve Liked
I’m loving the novel My Last Innocent Year by Daisy Florin. The main character is a senior in college around the time I was a senior in college, making the time and place—a college campus—especially fun for me. Campus novels are a favorite genre of mine.
I finished Catherine Newman’s novel, We All Want Impossible Things, which features a beautiful friendship during one friend’s last weeks in hospice. It was a quick, heartfelt, and witty book.
Shrinking on Apple TV has Ted Lasso vibes with its workplace zaniness and big hearted characters. I’m loving it.
Dear Edward on Apple TV is hard to watch, but very good so far. I read the book years ago and enjoyed it. I think I’m liking the show even more. Warning, if you’re anxious on airplanes, skip this one.
I know Firefly Lane (season 2) got mixed reviews, but I’m enjoying it. The start is slow, but I love the timespan of the friendship at the center. The theme of forgiveness is big here.
